Intercultural contacts between Christian missionaries and indigenous groups have produced essential and unique data for our knowledge of Manchuria before the 20th century, in Western languages. Today, these documents are archives of various kinds (handwritten letters, printed publications and photographs), some of which have been digitised by various institutions, among which is the French national Library.
